There have been far reaching effects to both the employer and employee noted in the non-compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. It is therefore necessary to explain the aspects of the legislation specific to an operation or operational activities.

The course covers the responsibilities ascribed to the Chief Executive Officer along with the requirements for compliance with the stipulated legislative requirements. It also aids employers by outlining the importance of demonstrating knowledge and record keeping.

The opinion of the legal position of both the employer and employee with motivations in terms of common law principles which are applicable to the OHS Act and that the law of evidence is applied along with the law of civil and criminal procedure in each relevant case study.
When completed, the candidate attending the course should have the ability to apply relevant sections of the current OHS Act along with being able to describe the implementation and enforcement of the selected, relevant legislation. The candidate will be able to describe how other SHE-related legislation can be implemented and provide an opinion concerning the legal positions of both the employer and the employee in terms of the selected legislation. Lastly, the candidate will be able to describe the relationship which exists between legal compliance and that of system requirements.
The content of this course has been formulated around the prescriptive requirements as depicted in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993 along with Regulations. The contents of this course are however not limited to the following:
The candidate attending the course will be assessed against the outcomes of each element through the completion of a subscribed knowledge assessment along with a practical assessment. These assessments will cover the essential embedded knowledge as stipulated in the course and will ensure that the candidate can apply the learning to a working situation.

Attending candidates must obtain a pass mark of at least 75% or higher is necessary in each Modular Assessment. Should these conditions have been met, the candidate will receive an accredited Certificate of Completion.
